REFUGE CHAMBER

Main Features:

A refuge chamber refers to a dedicated underground roadway chamber with emergency shelter functions, located on disaster avoidance routes in bottom yards, main horizontal entries, and mining areas (panel areas). It serves the entire mine, a specific level, or a mining area, with a service life generally not less than 5 years. Its primary function is to provide a safe refuge space for underground personnel when they cannot safely evacuate to the surface on foot within the rated protection time of their self-rescuers after disasters such as fires, explosions, or outbursts occur underground. Externally, it can withstand high-temperature smoke and isolate toxic and harmful gases. Internally, it provides oxygen, food, and water, removes toxic and harmful gases, creates basic survival conditions, and creates conditions and buys time for emergency rescue. The survival support systems of refuge chambers mainly include self-contained oxygen, dedicated pipelines, and boreholes.
