AprilTag QR code labeling stickers are a visual reference marking system commonly used in computer vision, robotics, and augmented reality (AR) fields. They can be simply understood as a high-precision "QR code" designed specifically for machine vision.

1. Technical Features

(1) High Robustness: Compared to traditional QR codes, AprilTag is designed for harsh environments such as long distances, low light, partial occlusion, or blurriness, exhibiting strong anti-interference and rapid recognition capabilities.

(2) Encoding Family: AprilTag is divided into different series (such as Tag36h11, Tag16h5, etc.), each containing a different number of valid IDs. Users can choose the appropriate size and density according to the application scenario.

2. Main Functions and Roles

(1) Precise Positioning and Distance Measurement: By photographing the sticker with a camera, the accompanying algorithm can quickly calculate the precise 3D position (X, Y, Z coordinates) and orientation (pitch, yaw, roll angle) of the tag relative to the camera.

(2) Camera calibration and pose estimation: Commonly used in robot navigation, multi-sensor joint calibration, and robotic arm grasping and positioning, effectively reducing cumulative errors.

3. Common application scenarios

(1) AGV/AMR mobile robots: Attached to warehouse floors or walls as road signs to help robots achieve precise positioning and correction.

(2) Robotic arm vision: Attached to workpieces or calibration plates to assist robotic arms in high-precision spatial grasping and alignment.

(3) UAVs and autonomous driving: Used for landing guidance and relative pose measurement in outdoor or indoor environments without GPS.

(4) AR/VR augmented reality: Used to stabilize the anchor position of virtual objects in real space.
