Description

The Biocare FM-801 fetal monitor's alarm indicator panel is located on the left side of the device, near the screen. It consists of four LED indicators with symbolic symbols and a power button. When a parameter exceeds a preset safety range or a device malfunction occurs, the corresponding indicator light flashes and then remains on, accompanied by an audible alarm.

Common Alarm Indications:

1. Fetal-related alarms

- Fetal tachycardia;

- Fetal bradycardia;

- Fetal heart rate decelerations;

- Variable or late decelerations;

- Signal lost or searching;

- Poor signal quality.

2. Maternal-related alarms

- Uterine contractions too frequent;

- Uterine contractions too strong or too high;

- Pressure sensor error.

3. Device status and system alarms

- Low battery;

- Printer error;

- System error/failure;

- Probe detachment.

What to do if an alarm occurs:

1. Confirm the source of the alarm: Immediately check the alarm indicator panel to determine which indicator light is flashing and review the alarm message.

2. Examine the patient: First, assess the clinical condition of the mother and fetus.

3. Check the device connections.

4. Evaluate the data: Observe the fetal heart rate and uterine contraction curves on the screen to determine whether the alarm is caused by a momentary disturbance or a persistent abnormality.

5. Take clinical action: Based on the severity and duration of the alarm, follow your hospital's clinical procedures.

6. Stop the alarm: Most monitors have an "alarm silence" or "pause" button to temporarily silence the audible alarm, allowing you to address the issue or communicate with the patient in a quiet environment.
