Q1: What does a “proximity probe” do?
A1: A proximity probe (also called an eddy‐current displacement transducer) senses the distance (gap) between its tip and a conductive target surface (e.g., a rotating shaft). The probe produces an output voltage that is a function of the distance (gap) and thus can track both

static displacement (position) and dynamic movement (vibration).

Q2: Is this probe compatible with other models in the 3300/3300 XL line?
A2: Yes, the 3300 XL 8 mm system is designed for backward compatibility with prior 3300 series 5 and 8 mm probes and extension

cables in many cases. However, you must verify specific connector, cable length/armour, and mounting/thread

options for compatibility in your installation.

Q3: What kind of connector or cable does it use?
A3: Many 3300 XL‑8 mm probes use a “Miniature coaxial ClickLoc™ connector” paired with a standard cable, though

options for armour, different lengths, lengths of unthreaded

section etc may vary.
