Plain bearings or bushings or sleeve bearings, which are often
referred to as individual plain bearings, are inserted into
housings to provide bearing surfaces that support rotary or linear
motion, usually in high load but relatively low speed applications,
especially where no additional grease or oil is available. These
bearings are made from "machined" plates or specially formulated
castings and are available in different shapes in cylindrical (for
linear and rotary motion), flanged (for thrust loads and rotary
motion), thrust washers and ribbon (mainly for sliding
applications) forms, in addition to different forms depending on
the requirements of the application and surrounding components.
Designers can use a wide range of column bearings in both metric
and inch forms in the design phase. The sliding bearing bearing
series refers to the company's production of 100% self-lubricating
plain bearings, some of which are pre-lubricated, something that
has not been specifically mentioned until now. These bearings are
suitable for applications where the coefficient of friction is very
low and the excellent sliding characteristics ensure a very low
wear rating. The initial movement ensures that a certain level of
lubricant is transferred to the shaft, thus avoiding metal-to-metal
contact as well as protection. The bearing series is suitable for
oscillation, rotation, high chemical resistance, low water
absorption and expansion. It is worth noting that with some
additional lubrication the plain bearings perform better. Bearings
whose internal construction is made of strips or coils have a point
along the length of the bushing, while those made of cast, extruded
or forged materials do not. The final form of a split bearing
generally depends on the housing (bushing outside diameter), as
these are press-fitted, relatively speaking, and the variation in
the final bore (bushing inside diameter) is in most cases
predetermined, as described in the catalog.

SF-2 POM composite thrust washers Description
POM composite thrust washers have pockets in the sliding surface,
which serve as grease reservoirs and should be filled with grease
prior to installation. This makes these washers suitable for
applications that require minimal maintenance under difficult
operating conditions, for example in contaminated environments
where lubricant cannot be supplied continuously or frequently.
Despite of their compact design, POM composite washers can
accommodate heavy axial loads and are less sensitive to
misalignment. They are suitable for slow rotational or oscillating
movements.
POM composite thrust washers consists of a sheet steel backing on
which a 0,2 to 0,4 mm thick layer of tin/bronze is sintered. The
principal characteristic of these washers is their relatively thick
(0,3 mm) covering layer of acetal resin (POM – polyoxymethylene)
with additives. This covering layer has pockets to retain grease
and is firmly attached to the sintered tin/bronze layer.
The thickness of the covering layer makes these washers less
sensitive to misalignment and the edge loading associated with that
misalignment.
