When configured with the temperature option, the monitor can provide predictive and monitored temperature measurements.

Predictive measurement is a one-time measurement that only takes a few seconds. Generates a single temperature reading and displays it at the end of the short measurement period. The monitor emits three short beeps to indicate the end of the predictive measurement.

Watchdog measurements are continuous temperature monitoring and are used when conditions prevent accurate predictive measurements. For oral and rectal measurements, a three-minute monitoring is recommended. A five-minute follow-up is recommended for axillary measurements.

WARNING

Do not exceed the recommended time of 3 minutes for oral and rectal measurements and 5 minutes for axillary measurements.

With monitoring measurements, the temperature is displayed dynamically over the entire measurement period. Unlike predictive measurements, monitors do not display the end of elapsed time for monitored measurements.

Do not monitor the temperature for more than 5 minutes.

Note

Make sure the temperature measurement type is set to Monitor. (The letters or to the right and below the temperature display window will light up.)

The procedure for monitor and predictive temperature measurements is the same with the following exceptions: For monitor measurements:

• The monitor should be set to monitor body temperature.

• Monitor continuously displays temperature.

• Measurements continue until the probe is replaced in the probe holder.

Thermometer and Probe Cleaning Procedure

1. Periodically clean the thermometer with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and a mild detergent.

2. Occasionally clean the thermometer and probe with 70% isopropyl alcohol or 10% bleach as needed.

Caution

Do not immerse or submerge thermometers or probes in liquid of any kind.

Caution

Do not sterilize thermometers or probes with steam, heat or gas. CAUTION Do not autoclave the thermometer or probe.
