1756-DNB ControlLogix DeviceNet interface module is a DeviceNet bridge device designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. An open-type DeviceNet network enables the establishment of connections between simple devices that are used for special requirements in an industrial environment. These devices include enhanced devices and different integral components such as computers, controllers, sensors, and actuators. The working principle of the DeviceNet network includes the use of CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) protocol for controlling the systems and machinery, collecting necessary data for various applications, and configuring industrial devices. The 1756-DNB communication module has DeviceNet communication rates at 125 kilobytes per second (500 meters maximum), 250 kilobytes per second (250 meters maximum), and 500 kilobytes per second (100 meters maximum). This module has a maximum of 64 nodes and it features a voltage rating of 11 to 25 Volts DC CL 2/SELV.

The module features a 400 mA current draw at 5.1 Volts DC, a 0 mA current draw at 24 Volts DC, and a DeviceNet current draw at 24 Volts DC of 60 mA. The 1756-DNB module dissipates a power of 3.5 Watts and its thermal dissipation is 11.9 BTU per hour. The ControlLogix module with a single slot width has a chassis-based location and it can be installed in any slot. The isolation voltage is at 50 Volts (continuous) and it includes a basic type of insulation and DeviceNet network to backplane features. The ControlLogix 1756-DNB module can be used with different chassis models and different variations of standard/redundant power supplies. The DeviceNet power complies with the CE low voltage LVD directive and UL restrictions. In order to be in compliance with these standards, users must follow a certain set of principles which refer to types of power supplies. In regard to DeviceNet ports, this module has 1 linear open-style plug with 5 or 10 pins. The 1756-DNB supports USB port 2.0 and it transfers data at a full speed of 12 megabits per second. The operating temperature of the module should be within the range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The storage temperature can be between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius (-40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
