Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16D is a ControlLogix DC Digital I/O Module. This is 10 to 30 Volts DC Diagnostic Input Module. It provides diagnostic features to the one channel level. The module provides fault diagnostics and timestamp reporting to the controller. This Bulletin 1756 module is mounted to a ControlLogix chassis. The 1756-IB16D houses 16 diagnostic inputs (4 groups with 4 points each). To connect field-side devices to it, you will have to use either an RTB or a 1492 series wiring IFM. Operators can use the 1756-TBCH and the 1756-TBS6H RTB housings with this module.

The diagnostic timestamp resolution of the module is 1 milliseconds. The module draws 3mA at 24 Volts DC. The maximum surrounding temperature for this diagnostic input module is 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). The 1756-IB16D is certified with the CE, UL, CSA, and C-Tick certifications. The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16D module has status indicators for optimal user interfacing. Users can determine if their inputs are in a normal operating state over the OK status indicator. The steady green light of this indicator says that all of the inputs are working correctly. A flashing red light indicates that the users must check the communication system and a steady red light indicates that a faulty module must be replaced. There are 16 I/O status lights that turn yellow when an input (from 0 to 15) is turned on. If some input has encountered a fault, its status LED light will turn red. Besides these status indicators on the front of the module, there is also a locking key.
